Dr. Jonathan Young is a fellowship-trained laryngologist and academic surgeon based at the Sir Mortimer B. Davis–Jewish General Hospital. He completed his medical degree and residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at McGill University, followed by a prestigious fellowship in Laryngeal Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. He also completed an observership in dysphagia at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
Dr. Young’s clinical practice focuses on disorders of the voice, swallowing, chronic cough, and laryngopharyngeal reflux. He is actively involved in the advancement of minimally invasive laryngeal procedures and is currently working to implement KTP laser therapy at the Jewish General Hospital for the treatment of recurrent respiratory papillomatosis, vocal fold dysplasia, keratosis, Reinke’s edema, and vocal fold vascular lesions.
As an academic faculty member, Dr. Young is committed to resident education and research. His interdisciplinary collaboration with McGill’s Department of Mechanical Engineering on vocal fold contact trauma has led to multiple ongoing research projects and grant proposals. He also contributes to both clinical and basic science research in laryngology and voice biomechanics.
