A Superior Laryngeal Nerve (SLN) injection is a non-surgical treatment option for chronic, unexplained coughing that may be caused by nerve hypersensitivity—also known as neurogenic cough. This condition occurs when the nerve responsible for sensing irritation in the throat becomes overactive, triggering a persistent cough even in the absence of actual irritation. The SLN injection targets this nerve with a small dose of anesthetic and steroid to help reduce its sensitivity and provide relief from constant coughing or throat clearing.
