Dr. John J. Manoukian

Associate Professor and Program Director, Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, McGill University

Dr. John J. Manoukian is an Associate Professor in both the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and the Department of Pediatric Surgery at McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine. He is a highly respected academic otolaryngologist with a strong focus on medical student and resident education, having served as Program Director of McGill’s Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery residency program from 2006 to 2017.

Dr. Manoukian earned his medical degree from Alexandria University in Egypt and completed his Otolaryngology residency at McGill University, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital Medical Center. His clinical expertise encompasses pediatric otolaryngology, complex airway reconstructive surgery (for both children and adults), rhinology, and endoscopic sinus surgery.

Recognized for his outstanding contributions to teaching and clinical care, Dr. Manoukian has received multiple awards, including the Outstanding Teacher Award from McGill’s Department of Otolaryngology (twice), the Best Program Director Award from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Honour Award. He is an active member of several prestigious professional societies and has served as an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Manoukian is known for his dedication to advancing the field of otolaryngology and his commitment to patient-centred, multidisciplinary care.
